Wedding FAQs

When is payment due?

For a ceremony only 50% is payable on confirmation and the remainder eight weeks before your wedding.

What about catering?

All catering is provided by Clerkenwell Green.

Do I have exclusive use of the venue?

You have exclusive use of the venue you hire. If your ceremony is during the daytime the castle will be open to the public. Other castle venues may be in use during the evenings.

Why are there maximum capacities at each venue?

This is to meet health and safety regulations. The total number of guests includes everyone in attendance - bridal party, minister, musicians and guests and must not be exceeded.

Who sets up the room for my wedding ceremony?

Our events staff prepare the room(s) for you.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not allowed inside any castle buildings but is permitted in outdoor areas.

Is confetti permitted?

We are unable to allow confetti, biodegradable products or rose petals. Some couples have loved using bubbles instead.

Are candles permitted?

Wax candles are fine in the Queen Anne Room and Jacobite Room. Only electric/battery lights are allowed in St Margaret’s Chapel and the Gatehouse Suite.

Is there a resident minister?

No, but our event manager can advise on local ministers.
